This could get messy for everyone involved...not just Microsoft. Designers, developers, biz of any size, MM, and especially end-users just trying to visit websites.

I'm waiting to see what happens.

I think they'll probably settle out of court

Actually the owner of Eola says right now that he will not license to Microsoft no matter what. At this point he has the upper hand.

Do you think maybe we could get the coordinates of Eola's head office to Osama? He'd sort 'em out, no worries.

I am not sure if Osama would be that effective. We should send ol' Dub-ya an email saying Eola is stealing his oil.

I'm propose a class-action lawsuit against Eola on behalf of all Flash developers to offset all the time spent re-training and the additional hours we'll have to bill clients to develop work-arounds.

Now that i think about it, we should just bill the extra hours straight to Eola and keep the lawyers out of it. They've got the cash.

Eola says they had no idea that it would send the web back into 1995 and are going to [try] to settle out of court.

On one hand, by suing M$, they seem to know full-well what it is that they have control of, and are taking maximum advantage of the situation.

Then you hear this, and wonder if they have any clue about what they have at all.

Do you have a link for your source, RXGX?

Yeah, but with Microsoft instituting the changes in the next version of IE due out next year, we are going to have change a lot of the html that is out there, or hope that people will put up with the extra clicking required.
