    Copyright issues/words/phrases with sporting events

    Hi all,

I'm creating a marketing campaign for a company in Sydney to tie in with the Rugby World Cup, but not get in trouble with the fact that we're not a sponsor.

So, I'm trying to work out what terms and phrases you can use, for example "the final", while avoiding copyright infringement. Anyone know anything about this, or where I'd find out the information?

    Cheers
    Dave

Go to their official site and look under their privacy/terms section. I had to tread carefully when I did some work with Clear Channel for a Super Bowl ad campaign and was faced with the same dilemma. Oh and be careful how you use the phrase Rugby World Cup as it is probably copyrighted. And if in doubt, just contact them in an email.

Any pointers on how you expressed your message during that Superbowl campaign?

I'm thinking of referring to "the rugby final" or similar...
