    Well,Finally,I've figured out how much varibles are needed in RPG's. I'm in the process of making Sonic the hedgehog's first ever RPG quest,but am having trouble with enemies.

    If you can solve one of these (and are the first to solve it) your name will appear in the Sonic:ittp credits list in special thanks.

    If you can solve two of these (and are the first to solve them) your name will appear on the special thanks credit list and have your name onthe main page of mindwarp,and on the "Veiw/Download Sonic:ittp" area/

    If you can solve all threee of these (and are the first to solve all of them),you will get all from finding the two,plus I'll put 50hits on your site,and if you have a grounds gold account from http://www.newgrounds.com , I'll refer you on an account and get you 10 grounds gold!

    Please note,you may want AIM as some problems may need to be discussed. here goes...

    the battle overveiw is:

    on the first battle screen (1810) it has

    if ("flameboss" lt "0") {
    gotoAndPlay ("Scene 1", "robodeath");
    }
    gotoAndPlay (1811);

    on the second battle frame (1811) it has

    if ("health" lt "0") {
    gotoAndStop ("Scene 1", "die");
    }
    gotoAndStop (1810);

    On both frames,you can select attack,which works fine and deducts 9 health from Sonic,and 7 from the flame boss,who's health varible is flameboss ...anyhow,on the frames,Sonic has to attack before it says game over, problem #2 is that the flameboss's health plain goes down to like -19 ect ect...

    problem #3:

    When you click the chaos emerald,which is the magic button, it has

    on (press) {
    if ("magic" gt "1") {
    gotoAndPlay (1819);
    }
    }

    which plain doesnt do anything..Sonic always starts that battle with 8 health,and It deducts two health at the end of the frame.

    please look over these,think of the rewards!

    P.S:

    The mindwarp site will be up soon!!

    Just to let you know that “Sonic the Hedgehog” is copyright Sega!

    And I would suggest not using “Scenes” in your game, instead use MCs. As variables don’t pass between “Scenes” and you will have lots of problems. Acutely it sounds like that is your problem.

    Any way I relay don’t understand what else you need to know? Well just ask here and every one will do there best to help!

    Cionex,

    You are using Flash5 right?

    You’ve got a long way to go… you need to learn more about Flash(5) and more about programming. Here are some good threads that you might finned helpful.

    Get out your manual (ActionScript Reference Guide) and read up on Movie Clip objects / dot operator, you will find that to be very helpful as well.

    Hi cionex,

    1: Sonic is copywrited and any reproduction might be considered violation of the intelectual property. names, characters are copywrited as well. Keep that in mind it does not matter are you going to sell the game or keep it for yourself or share with others. One Fan site was shut down by Lucas Arts already. Ok just to let you know.

    http://www.avault.com/news/displayne...8142000-125410
    and the fan site:
    http://www.shawarts.co.uk/
    and for education:
    http://lcweb.loc.gov/copyright/

    2: I have a small problem with your expressions:

    if ("flameboss" lt "0") {
    gotoAndPlay ("Scene 1", "robodeath");
    }
    gotoAndPlay (1811);

    what is the reason to use "IT". this means "Alphabetically before" and its based on ASCII values to my knowlege 0 will stay in front of the leter chars in this case the first letter of flameboss "f".

    Are you shure you are not missing one ELSE statement as well.

    3: This as well:
    on (press) {
    if ("magic" gt "1") {
    gotoAndPlay (1819);
    }
    }
    "GT" means "Alphabetically after"

    Hope this helps

    Cionex,

    A side from the code help Mad-Sci just gave you. I don’t relay think there is an easy sultan for what is giving you a hard time. I think the root of most problems is bad planing, from just looking at your code examples / post. It is apparent that a lot of thought has gone in to what you want but not how to achieve it? Before you get to fare in to your game production sit down and plan it all out. Not just what you want to see but how you plan to make it work! What are the perks / flaws of any given approach?

    Also to better make those decisions, you need to know as much as possible! When you say move clips don’t work I find that hard to believe, as they are the basses of any dynamic flash movie. When you made the decided to use scenes I think you accidentally limited your game? But I don’t even know what it is you are trying to do so I am only guessing?

    Well I wish you the best with your game and offer my support.
