    X-Box 1.5 named FT-XBX2 (Not by Microsoft)

    Xbox Goes Turbo

Japanese retailer OverTop, known for their wide selection of import games and unique gaming peripherals, has announced plans to offer an upgraded version of Microsoft's Xbox console. Modified by FriendTech, the upgraded Xbox will boast a 1.4 ghz processor and 80GB harddisk. Although scheduled for release in November, pricing for the new model remains undisclosed. The finished version of the upgraded Xbox will reportedly include a "turbo switch" which will allow players to run the console using default settings. When operated in turbo mode the prototype loaded data at nearly twice the speed of a retail Xbox. Below are several pictures of the prototype.

You could overclock it, switch out for an ata133 cable, and stick in a bigger hard disk yourself.

But then I don't have a turbo switch. (Without the switch, I'm sure some games would not work on the oveclocked box)

Given M$' policy on modifications, I'd be surprised if any games worked with this new "turbo" mode after the next Live update.

Watch them whip out a DCMA charge. I'd bet money on it.

Basically these are photos, just on polygons. The GT team had a huge photographer team to get all the textures for the game. And of course they did wonders with the lightning.

Yup, it's the New York track. The other tracks in the pictures are from a Japan race track and from a mountain city race in italy.

so what exactly is it going to do, i mean it has a 10 gig in it now right? and like 55,000+ blocks to save. my friend has a TON of saved games on it and it still says 55,000+ block remaining...? and well processor power? who care other then it might load games faster...people will still only be making games to run off the "original" Xbox, and could you go online with it? i mean doesn't it do a hardware check before you go on to look for modchips or what not?(sorry a xbox n00b kind of haha)

Guys, this isn't exactly a new platform or clone sanctioned by microsoft.

This is a hack job. Xboxes are made out of all off-the-shelf components. These guys are taking a bit of poetic license with the specs.
