    Phantom Console :: is it a hoax?

    Ok, I'll be honest. I've never really factored in the Infinium Labs Phantom Console other than I've have had suspicions from the start.

    hell, it's called Phantom... something you hear about, but never see...

    Anyway, HardOCP just dug up some dirt on them. Rather interesting read, IMHO.

    Read about it here... looks like a con-job by the founder to me.

    I must admit I'm not interested in gaming or console news etc but this was an interesting read!

    Definitely sounds dodgy!

    same here no longer interested in gaming, but gee I couldn't pull myself away from that article it was soo damn gooood and it looked so well investigated, think that what made the article.

    I did hear of another console quite a while ago now. But I'm unsure if it was the Phantom, but it does ring a bell or two especially the pictures.

    Although it could have been a hoax then and now, lol.

    Hey - think if I throw a copy of MAME on an old computer I want to get rid off and sell it on e-bay, I can call myself an industry-leading global entertainment and interactive game company too? At least I will have actually sold something.

    What's really sad is the way the gaming media completely sold out to this hype - I'm sure they were paid well to run the press release/stories that they did. Those millions of investment capital had to have gone somewhere.

    A press release is just that, a release for the press - if you pay to have it included, it becomes a commercial. No grey areas here.



    I didn't read the link (sorry), so maybe this is answered there, but what do the Phantom people have to gain by sinking craploads of cash into a system that does not and never will exist?

    I saw the phantom in an older issue of OPM and it look pretty cool, they also had a ton of up and coming games systems including a hand held from Korea.
