there's a forum open now on the website, i guess you can ask questions there. they are "dispelling" rumours about the hoax here:

well, its nice to actually see some real photos (not 3d renders) but i guess i'll be convinced when i either see some hype of places like ign ori actually see it in stores.

to me though it still seems so fishy. they can't get an office but have labs in sarasota.?
and are these the actual "labs"?

what i also found kind of funny is that they are using a forum poll to conuct "market research" on how many "hardcore" gamers have broadband. the three votes they had so far for broadband must really be giving mad info!

or maybe the plan is to save money advertising and create hype by all of us who discuss wheter its real or not. if so, its working

Anybody that calls their Invision Power Board "Invision Power Board" is just silly. Do they know what they're doing?

That's Quake. So they must have got permission to use it. Any sign? No. It's only avalible on Windows, so they must be using Microsoft technology in it somewhere, anything about it on MS? No.

    It's rubbish.

...or he just built a PC with a tv-out card, installed quake, took some pictures and viola! instant credibility!

look back for the older press releases sheepy. there were some announcements and even expected games to be included with the machine, what not.

and since it's basically a PC in a gaming case, all they need to do is license the games from the the manufacturers.

I don't think you can dismiss them for leaving the default title on their forum!

still, I don't see what stops this from becoming a PC in a box? The x-box is close enough to that but has custom architecture that makes it worth developing games for it, but if this is just a PC which doesn't need games developed for it, just runs PC games, then... why?

So why haven't any of the manufacturers said anything about it?

yeah. I have yet to see where it truly fits in. They are talking up their Phantom.NET stuff. Downloadable games, what not.

What will be the benefit of buying this console and games for it?
Will games available for PC be cheaper as electronic downloads?
What are the benefits for a publisher to create gaes for this system, especially with places like Valve pushing their own digital distribution methods (ie. Steam)?
Won't most hardcore gamers want to be able to modify their system for optimal performance?
Won't casual gamers want to feel they own something they've purchased?

Even if this thing is for real, they are either:
    1. Way ahead of their time
    or
    2. Way out of their league

Or potentially 3. Way out of their minds

So when half-life 4 comes out, I'll have to buy phantom produced/sanctioned hardware and install it myself to do an upgrade?
