resolved [RESOLVED] why does flash kit have the same forum as were-here.com?

so i just signed up here to get some things answered that no one is responding to over there,... and noticed your forums (which i think are new) are the same ones (format and all) that http://www.were-here.com has been using for quite some time.... this isnt meant to be a flame, dont get me wrong, just wondering if you guys are using the same server
    database or such.....
and i hope someone can answer my javascript questions a little better on this one than they have been lately on were-here

    just curious

I started out with UBB which was great until the board started growing. Then I started looking for a SQL based board that would import UBB data, vbulletin which is the board we are using fitted the requirements so I used it!

Were here also use it, its a fast board and a good one, it has a few bugs, but we are working on solving them, the team is working pretty hard on it, amoung a zillion other things

    how hard was it

yeah.. just did a little research and found the site to dl vbulletin and a few others..
how hard was the setup on this one? backend and such..
i went and saw about 5 sites using the same package, and they all seem pretty similar so im assuming that they give a front end with it too that you can modify....
was the server end of it hard to get going?
worth the 160 bucks for it?
and how much server space does just the board take up?
you can email me direct if you dont want to post up the details here...
    thanks

and i saw quite a few free forum type software packages up too.. i might start off small, do you know of any good free ones floating around that work out pretty well for a small board?

    you have posted

all over this board, get a REAL question about HTML or JAVASCRIPT, with what you are trying to do! I will try to help (email my username) this board (I thought) had to do with FLASH. If I cannot answer your question, then I can direct you to some boards that focus on this area...

The design section is for non flash and more HTML and web related issues. The scripting forum is for Javascript etc etc.

Thanks for your generous help offer too Richard, I look forward to your ongoing wisdom on the board!

    I love this thing...

called FLASH... and have found a resource that I wish I had when I was learning HTML/JAVA. Seriously, I REALLY love this board and how "FLASHKIT" and the guys run it. This is a great place and they have done a great job of mixing flash with the other mess that we call the "Internet". Watch this board, I do...This is where the future of the Web will come from. For real, if you need some java/javascript help I can help maybe, just supply me with more detail.

Well at the minute I am happy with vbulletin (this one) it handles load which is important. UBB seemed to have a lot of errors when a lot of posts were made.

If you are starting from scratch you could also try wwwthreads as well.

Go to http://www.cgi-resources.com and have a look around for forum software!

vBulletin has a kind of mellow llook while Infopop allowed us to bring UBB into a new sharper focus. Persoanlly I still prefer UBB, i'm used to the nav of the user on top and when i click on someone's profile i see other person's profile and i go wtf? then i realize it's at the bottom.

    check out http://www.superstats.com also

With vbulletin you can change all the layouts with templates, it would take 5 minutes to put the options on the top.

I like UBB but only if you have a site that has a few people posting, UBB cant handle 5000 members posting, it loses posts, and mixes up topics, hence my move to vbulletin.

Trust me I searched hard for a robust bulletin board, I am still testing this one out, but I am happy with it so far!
