    Chicken War 3D

In my 'Thanx BlinkOK' thread, I talked about the next Chicken War going 3D. The last hours, I've been busy with Swift 3D to make a Xiaou Xiaou clone, and when I added chickens, this was the result:
    http://www.middenaarde.nl/3d/chicken.swf

I only used outline, because I wanted to create a Xiaou clone, but when I'm going to use this for the next CW, I will ofcourse use fills (o oh, filesize 100MB ) and thick outlines; to keep the cartoony style ofcourse.

Please tell me your oppinion. The first CW's were 2D and very cartoony. So, will 3D be a good option? And what would you expect of a 3D shooting game? Should I created 3D chickens, or are 2D chickens in a 3D enviroment good enough?

I'm using Swift 3D for two days now, so I'm no prof yet. So if anyone has done something similar before, and would like to share experience...

Edit: To those who are afraid I won't spend time anymore on Tales of the Lost Warrior: Don't worry; I will, ofcourse, continue with the RPG. All the basic stuff and the engine are completed, so it's only a matter of time to create enemies, quests and worlds.

    Its dutch...

Good game! Yeah! you should keep the chickens 2D.
I don't think it would run propertly with 3D chickens anyway.

Hmmm... you should try filling that demo that you have now and compare filesize and stuff...

    Work on!

this is an interesting game. i think it's swift or plasma. it's got a good panning technique (painfully large though 3+ Mb)

    Good stuff!

Question, in swift 3D, can you put jpegs on the polygons, or would that make the filesize too big even if it's possible. I was thinking of making a game like this too and I'd like to have some 3D effects like that

    Alright, here's the colored demo:
    http://www.middenaarde.nl/3d/chicken1.htm
    Filesize: 107 Kb

Yes, it's small, and already 107 Kb; and I did not even added a lot of sound. The final game will be huge, I quess.

I'm still learning Swift 3D, so that why there are a couple of animation errors (like move through an object). And the movement speed is to fast too. But you can get a nice impression of the style.

If you want to compare it with Chicken War 2, this is the URL:

Haha, thanx for the positive replies! I'm glad you liked it! I think I don't need to teach you, because Swift is just so easy, I'm sure you can learn it yourself. I'm working with Swift for 4 days now, and this is the result so far. It looks pretty amazing, but it's a piece of cake. I've worked with 3D's Max before, but Swift is so much easier. When I saw Xiao Xiao for the first time, I thought he has been working for weeks to get that result. Now I know, he has not.

Also, BlinkOK's turtorial 'Swiftville' helped me a lot. After I did that turtorial, I could create a complete enviroment. And 99% of the CW Demo is the enviroment; the other 1% is basic AS.

Hmmm, let's make some 3D weapons tomorrow.

I definitely like the colors and movement. The sound of the chickens was just plain funny
