    Business Naming Finalist

I am very excited to announce that from my previous thread posting on trying to decide on a new name for my freelance design business, I have come down to a decision. I just need help clarifying.

I have chosen Fifth Room as the starting point. The main problem is that the URL is takn for a .com. I could go with one of the following:
    fifthroom.net
    fifthroom.biz
    fifthroom.tv
    fifthroom.org
    fifthroom.info
    fifthroom.cc
    fifthroom.ws
    fifth-room.com

    or

I could throw a descriptor on the end, like 'creative' or 'studio' or communications'. fifthroomcreative.com and fifthroomdesign.com are both available.

So these are my thoughts and questions and I would love some feedback.

Do I go with a non dot com for the simple form of the name, do I throw in a hyphen, or do I throw on a descriptor to the name???

Thanks in advance for all your feedback, it is always wonderful!

    Best Regards,

    Steve

well, it looks like the .com is taken by an outdoor furniture designer. So maybe something to clarify what you do. perhaps fifthroommedia.com could work.
It must be obvious day at camp stupid

and you're definitely stuck on fifthroom?

made me think of hillman curtis's client www.feedroom.com.

i assume you're spelling it out, right? no numerals?

There are some great benefits to using your name, "Guberman".
    It's an old traditional name.
    It conveys authority
It's not hiding behind anything (like so many misterious net companies)
It's serious but not too serious
It sounds like other successful small-office businesses such as law firms and ad firms and therefore inherits credibility
    It's easily remembered.
Because it's so easily remembered, it would be easy to logo it, just by using the name in the font of your choice with a little customization.

I think you're sitting on a gold mine with the name, it'll carry alot more weight in your customers' eyes than the name of your den.

    thanks for the feedback guys...

Erova, yes I was going to spell it all out.

SSC Comic... man, you make some great points about using my own name. I was on board and excited to do so with a few hang ups that led me to the fifth room name... hang up one was guberman what? finsih it off how and if I did Guberman & Associates, who are these associates and what URL would I use. I mabe will revisit the last name usage... thanks!

Oh boy, all kinds of neat things to do with it. If there are no associates, don't say associates.

    Guberman Design Services
    Guberman Design
    Guberman Media
    Guberman Interfaces
    Guberman Art
    Pixelguberman (j/k )

Really, whatever fits what you actually do/your segment. The important thing is that it will be easy for someone to say "call Guberman". The second word is just kinda there.
    G/L!

thanks Cos, I am going to run with that a few days... I don't want to put a single descripto on the name (like web) because I am into all types of design, print, web, advertising, etc...

    I'll keep you posted.
    Thanks,

I still say the fifth room is great. I love it!

what about http://www.thefifthroom.com? (not sure if that url is taken as my browser is not loading anything.. )

In all honesty, I think something like Guberman & Assoc... sounds like some stuck up law firm.
