Need the advice from someone who knows html

would creating a website like this one http://www.annabellestreats.com/ be difficult. I looked at the source code and I don't understand the javascript part and I don't know why they slided the images up the way they did. Can some please advise.

nothing complicated there, the code is typical of html created by dreamweaver and needs to be cleaned up a bit, there are a few empty table cells tags for example. Not too hard to do but whoever created this page didn't bother.

the javascript functions at the beginning and the function calls throughout the code are to create the rollovers in the menu. Again, they're pretty standard and created by fireworks or dreamweaver (the 'MM' in front of the function names stands for macromedia). Nothing wrong with using them, they're very solid, but a lot of people use their own.

there is no CSS in this site, there are font and other tags throughout which have been deprecated for a couple of years now. If you're using this page as a learning example my recommendation is don't, it's out of date code, you need to find an example that uses CSS to format the 'look' of the document, colours, fonts, etc.

check w3schools, it's an excellent learning resource for all aspects of web design.

you can see what's out of date with that page by running it through the w3c validator,

    http://validator.w3.org/check?uri=ht...1+Transitional

by looking at the results there you can see what is no longer recommended code and how to change it to recommended code.

heres a link to a good CSS tutorial site

    http://www.camaban.co.uk/

there are alot of bits as AV says that can be removed eg "transgif.gif" this appears all over the place, and at a guess its just used as a transparent or (background colour) similar to spacers (generated by fireworks) to push the tables to certain sizes (width / height)

if the tables are coded correctly u dont need them

i would start a fresh at designing a page, then post it here and let us have a look at it

what are u designing it in ?

heres a quick screenshot from Dreamweaver of the transgif placings, none of them need to be in there
