    flash projector version problem

I have built an application in Flash MX, when I test the swf in Internet Explorer (with the latest Flash plugin) the application works fine.
When I publish the fla in Flash MX as a projector file, and test with the exe file, I get an annoying problem that I can't solve (have spent very much hours on it).
I manipulate the position in a listbox with SetScrollPosition and SetSelectedIndex, this doesn't work good in the projector.
The function I call after this manipulation, doesn't start every time.
In the published swf it works fine, no problem.
I want to make a projector version, because it is a client application, to big to load from an internet site.
Is this a version problem? Can anyone help me with this problem?

The standalone Flash player that comes with Flash MX is not updated at regular intervals like the plugin is (when you visit a Flash web site) you have to update the standalone player yourself.

The following information is freely available on the Macromedia web site. It is for owners of Macromedia Flash and may not work if you don't have Flash installed (I've never tried it on a machine without Flash present).

Macromedia Flash Player 6 Update for Flash MX

Download: Macromedia Flash Player 6 (Windows)
    http://download.macromedia.com/pub/f...update_r79.exe

Download: Macromedia Flash Player 6 (Macintosh)
    http://download.macromedia.com/pub/f...update_r79.hqx

This download includes an update to Macromedia Flash Player 6 for the Plugin installers, ActiveX control installers, Standalone players, and Test Movie players (used when you test in Flash MX with Ctrl+Enter), both Debug and Release versions. The Flash Player 6 Update installer will automatically do the following:

    - Update the contents of your Flash MX\Players folder with the new version of Flash Player 6

    - Update your Flash MX test movie player

    - Install the updated Flash Player 6 ActiveX Control and/or plugin, debug version only, into your browser(s)

I already upgraded the Flash MX IDE to r79, but this didn't solve the problem, any other suggestions or should I upgrade to MX 2004?

If it works in the browser and not in the Flash standalone projector, you can try one of the commerical third party projector tools (see list below) we all (except ***********) use the Flash OCX to make standalone EXE files which should exhibit the same behavior as you see in the browser.

    SWF Studio http://www.northcode.com
    Flash Studio http://www.multidmedia.com
    Jugglor http://www.***********.com
    FlashAnts http://www.flashants.com
    Flash 'N Pack http://www.flashnpack.com
    SWFKit http://www.swfkit.com
    LPFlashEX http://www.logicplus.com.hk

If you need any help with SWF Studio, just give me a shout. You can find me here, in the SWF Studio support forums at www.northcode.com/forums or by sending email to support@northcode.com

Does it work if you double click on the SWF file ?

Or it works fine in an html file with the SWF file inside ?

To set the Flash MX projector to it as default just open up

    C:\Program Files\Macromedia\Flash MX\Players\SAFlashPlayer.exe

    Try this

When I make a projector file in Flash MX (version 6), it doesn't work. When I publish the file as an swf file and open the swf in Internet Explorer (with latest plugin from Macromedia 7.x) it works fine. I want to make a projector to solve problems with the flash player version and because it is a client application. Thanks for all the suggestions anyway, I really appreciate this.
Is there a SaFlashPlayer.exe for version 7 available?

Macromedia makes downloadable versions of the flash player (EXE) available here http://www.macromedia.com/support/flash/downloads.html for MAC, Linux and PocketPC but apparently not for Windows. Looks like you have to have Flash MX 2004 installed already and use the Flash Updater to get the latest copy of SAFlashPlayer.exe for Windows.

Is it also possible to distribute the saflashplayer for Flash 7 together with the swf files of the application? This would be a solution for my problem.
Is it also possible to start exe files with fscommand with the saflashplayer? It seems this doesn't work outside the projector file.

You can distribute SAFlashPlayer.exe (v7) with your SWF files, but I'm betting MM wants you to actually own Flash MX 2004 (that the player ships with) before you do that.

You can launch applications, but you can't pass arguments or use paths in your EXEC commands. If you don't want to shell out $ for a commercial projector tool (see list below) then you'll have to put all the EXE files you want to run in the special FSCommand folder or use BAT files in the FSCommand folder that contain the paths to the EXE files you want to launch. Search this forum for PROXY.EXE and you'll find a FREE utility I wrote to help you run BAT files without displaying the ugly old DOS box - that will allow you to make a professional looking system that can launch external applications.

If I put the saflashplayer (v7) in the same map as the swf files everything works fine, even the exec with fscommand works fine. It even works on other machines without Flash installed!
