I'm doing some tracing in Illustrator and all of my lines are..umm..messy. They aren't clear like they are supposed to be. They look almost pixelated for some odd reason. I've tried to play with strok width, but that hasn't helped.
its called anti aliasing. Since they need to be displayed as pixels on screen and they are set up in a grid, they soften the coloring of the diagonal lines to make them smooth and not jaggie. Nothing wrong with them at all. Once printed they will be straight as an arrow.
that's what I thought, too. But, I open the illustrator file in photoshop with anti-aliasing option checked, but the problem remains. Since this is an image for my website, my concern is only how it looks on computers. Is there any way to turn anti aliasing on in illustrator or it's always on??
dude, if you dont want anti aliasing on corners, go into MS Paint and draw lines, because that is what they will look like. No one thinks poorly of anti aliased diagonal lines because everyone sees them all the time and they look a heck of a lot nicer than stuff in MS Paint
i think there is a miscommunication here. I "do" want the smooth edges, but the problem is that I'm getting the results like MS Paint in Illustrator...
