Guestbook won't always work

I have recently created a flash guestbook. Through some difficulties I finally figured it out. Now the guestbook works on my own computer running IE 5. but I have gotten feedback saying that other people can't load the flash guestbook. They all get struck at the read entries screen. But i don't have that kind of problem on my computer, it runs fine. I have tried everything, the swf and the txt file is together, the cig file is in the cgi-bin, the files have the right chmod. I have no clue what is wrong. suggestions anyone?

Check the $basedir variable and make sure it points to the SERVER path, not the web path.

Talk to your ISP to get this information.

if the basedir is wrong, then y does the guestbook load on my own computer? that is what i don't get.
