Urgent: Need help w/ a school project

    Hi,

I am working on this school project and decided to do it in flash. So far this is what I have:

    http://www.fahims.com/celltest.swf

I want to make it so when a dart is thrown and hits a certain part of the cell, it gives you more information on that part. Is there anyway to do this?

    Thanks

maybe u could make some invisible boxes, and create a hittest with them. If the darts hittest an invisible box a message pops up

lol if i dont recall, i think you make a box a movie clip. Then you click the box and type in if(hittest==true) {} I forgot what goes inside it

I know this might sound really stupid, but...how do you make a box invisible and hittest it.

I know hot to use hittest. but I never hit test anything invisible.

    well

se what you could do is make the boxes on a different layer to cover them up. also i did a flash game for a report it worked out well i got an A+. Good luck. But try importing invisible boxes (that you made) to flash

i got it done but these invisble boxes are boxes! meaning i cant customize the shape as a circle or rhombus or something! so i had to do it as squares, ugh. then i ran into another problem, only certain parts of the box when hits triggers what i want, i dont know why!

post your actionscript and then i can tell. Also try dividing the cell into pieces and put them on frames. Then put actionscript to each object.

I will post the .fla file. Basically this is a cell, I got the dart stuff somewhere on flashkit.com. Everytime the dart hits a certain organelle (part) of the cell, it gives information about that part and adds a defined ammount of points. I found that making "invisible shapes" can only be done with squares, hittest does not work with circles, at least I couldn't get it to. Everything else is working fine but I am only having one problem. Sometimes when the dart hits the defined "invisible shape" area, it gives the information about that part of the cell. Sometimes when it hits the "invisble shape", everything works out perfectly. But other times the dart hits the same "invisible shape" and nothing happens! I have no idea why. Please help.

    Thanks guys

lol, nice work in this instance!, but flash + school projects can be a dangerous mixture, especially when it can be done on powerpoint with much more ease and less time
