    Transforming in Max

Hey all <wipes dust off of keyboard>

I've been looking around, and I can't seem to quite get the help I need. Perhaps you folks can point me in the right direction...

    Imagine if you will:

    Sprite1
    -Object1

    Sprite2
    -Sprite2b
    - -Object2

(Sorry, I'd attach a file, but I don't have Swish on this computer...)

If Object2b is moving around in a loop, is it possible to click on Object1, and cause Sprite2b to stop, expand and move to a certain location? Where can I find out how to do this? (I tried Swish-Talk, but had trouble making it fit my scenario)
I figured out how to do half of this a year ago, but the whole thing has gotten foggy in my mind since.

Appercaite any help you can offer (as always)

    Yup.

Using Tell Target actions, you can have one object's event trigger almost anything else to happen. In this case, you want Tell Target Transform actions to move it into place. Not sure what you mean my expand though - is that increase X & Y so it appears larger?

Also, are you still on 2.0?

Dead Rabbit is like a good truck...

He's always there when ya need him

I've attached a dumbed down version...

    The goal is:
Click on the orange bar, the orange box will stop moving, and grow to fit the screen, while the green box disappears. Click somewhere else, and it resets back into it's original form.

I tried the X and Y expansion bit, but my squares only disappeared. (Granted, that might be because of bad numbers with the rest of the equation.)

By '2.0' do you mean Swish2.0 or SwishMax2.0? M version says 2003.09.09. Guess I should check for an update...

    Again, help is always apperciated.

Max is just SwishMax - V2 means the version of Swish I helped you out on last time. The latest (non-beta) Max version is 2003.10.30, which is what I use.

Nope - it just means I haven't had time to take a look at it...

I am just heading out but a quick look at your script raises some issues. For example, in the script on the Action sprite in the frames where you have transforms on the X and Y coordinates you have too many terms - setting _X a second time, for example, wipes out the first setting.

Here is a quick tutorial on position transforming. It is not directly translatable to sizing easing, but close - http://www.wellesley.edu/Chemistry/F...formintro.html

I will take a more detailed look early tomorrow.

A bit behind so that the samples posted reach a wider audience.

I've actually updated (to sort of force everyone to stay current.)
