    action in 2004 vs MX?

    Hi everyone,
Is it my imagination or has Macromedia changed the way the Action scripts are done in Flash 2004! If so, what is the difference? I sure hope our friends at Macromedia did not make things more difficult for us customers!

    Moved from the Boardroom...

Flash MX 2004 actionscript has changed drastically from the previous release... the jump was from as to as2... a more hardcore developer-oriented language that has a flavor of java.

The good news for folks who can't, or don't want to, learn a new actionscripting mindset, is that the old actionscript is still intact and works just fine in 2004. The best of both worlds! (or at least the good of both worlds!)

    Hope that helps.

No it does not. MX allowed sloppy AS and did not show it as a mistake or the player played it correctly, not so MX2004. It is like MX compared to IE (sloppy) and MX2004 compared to Mozilla (exact).

I had to change code from former applications to make it compatible.

Mozilla? Isn't that extinct already? Guess it won't be very long before it is, if it isn't yet!
    Sloppy! Shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhssssssshhhhhhhhh!
Why can't something ever be good based on it's own values, rather than hitting on something else?

Thanks. Can anyone provide some good Flash 2004 tutorials online? I am using VTC.com and but they don't have it up yet. How about some free tutorials. And if anyone can recommend a good tutorial that is better than VTC I would appriate it. Here I go learning things over again.

One last thing. Can I run Flash 2004 on the same machine as MX?
    Thanks
