Plasma Screen???

Hi,

I have been asked to build a 15minute presentation which will end up displaying on a 16:9 - 'Plasma Screen'
The pixels are 1280 (h) x 768 (v) but at a ratio of 16:9 it can't be the same as a LCD monitor?? can it?

I need to know what size I should make my movie - and I dont have a Plasma Screen to test this out, oh what phun....

Any advice on setting up the design of this is very much appreciated.

sounds like one of those "wide screen" jobs. although i'm really outta my depth i would scale it down (byt the 16:9) ratio to fit my monitor and do a letterbox over a black background like they do on the TV with those sexy foreign movies

not sure if this will help you or not but I recently read an entry at todd dominey's blog about his app for the PGA that was displayed on plasma screens around the golf course.

he said he made his flash movie 800x450 which was the right ratio.

Thanks for the link - This is the correct ratio !! 800x450 with no distortion to the movie...

Kinda strange as the Plasma screens display 800x600 yet they are not in proportion...if you know what I mean..

16:9 is the widescreen ratio, normal screens are 4:3...
i.e. 800/4 = 1
600/3 = 1
Therefore pixels are square when you're set to any ratio of 4:3 on a standard monitor.

That way you could set your stage to any size you like, as long as the ratio is 16:9 for widescreen.
