I am trying to get a tone of one frequency in one ear and a tone of a different frequency in the other ear. No matter how I adjust the sound settings both tones play in both ears. I know I am missing something simple, but what?

In the sound editing window
you have to drag the envelope handle all the way to the bottom so that you only hear sound from one the speaker

then do the same for the other tone.

make sure you put each tone
in it's own layer.

I wish it were that simple. Unfortunately I tried that already and it had no effect. Maybe something is wrong with my headphones. Oh well.
