I have a movie that's pretty big, I want to add some statistics in the middle of the movie to give the movie time to load. Is it possible to stop the movie at a certain point but still have the rest of the movie load?

I also added an arrow/next button for them to click after reading the information, but I want the site to continue to load while they are reading the information & not when they click the arrow/next button.

I'm using Swish2.

hi,

there's no way to keep a flash movie from loading, all you can do is keep it from playing before it#s fully loaded.

so your idea of stopping it will work, the rest of the movie will continue to load.

have you thought about using a preloader which will completely load your movie before it'll start playing?

Well, my buddy wants the site to play as it loads. However, there is a part on the site that requires a pre-loader. Are they hard to make? Is there a tutorial on them anywhere that you know of off the top of your head?

here is a very simple example. right now, it'll play without the preloader (it's in a sprite) showing up. however if you add some content (perhaps a larger image), place it somewhere later than frame 100, you'll see the preloader in action.

it'll only work on your server, not when you view it off your hd!
