Compositing 3D and live action
I've always wondered how to combine 3D objects and prerecorded video.
What programs/tutorials do you suggest?
I'm searching as we speak, so if I come across anything worth while, I'll also post it here.

for compositing i suggest either
after effects (www.adobe.com)
or
combustion (www.discreet.com)
I'm pretty sure these software offer plenty of tutorials to combie live with 3d

it's very general but there is a compositing segment (not technical at all but hints at the process) included with the "pirates of the carribean" DVD

Depends on what your looking to do. I go to school for visual effects and we use everything to composite 3d with live 2d video. Each shot is unique you might only need a 3d package such as max for a shot or you might need a 2d program such as combustion or nuke. A good site to go to is www.vfxtalk.com

Now that's what I call an animation!
For perspective-matching and light camera-matching, most 3D apps will get you where you want to go at the expense of extra effort. If you're using MAX, send me e-mail and I'll send you a tutorial I wrote long ago for 3D Cafe.
If you want to get sophisticated and have the coinage lying around, you could add SceneGenie to your pipeline. While you're at it, buy one for me
have fun!

I couldn't find your email, so I emailed you via your website.
If you don't get it, drop me a thread in the mod forum with your email, it should be safe from the spammers there
