.swf to dvd
What can I use to burn my .swf files so they will play on my dvd player?
-
DVD movies are mpeg2s. So you would need to export your .swf to an .avi file, transcode that .avi into a mpeg2 file, and only then burn the DVD.

Oldnewbie,
Thank you for your reply! I'm a newnewbie and could you share how transcode the avi to mpeg2?
Best,

Do you have a DVD burner? Didn't any burning software (Sonic or others) come with it? That would normally do it!

My question?
Well that's all groovy, but is there any way to make interactive menus in Flash and export somehow to a DVD readable format?
Thanks for your time.

Hmmm... I don't think there is. The menu systems that DVD set-top boxes understand are very specific. Generally video pros use tools like Apple's DVD Studio Pro for building these. As far as I understand, this is a special layer in the MPEG-2 format.
The same is the case for Director MX 2004www.macromedia.com/software/director. However, you can create interactive menus for DVD-ROMs, which are understood by PCs and Macs. In fact, Director MX 2004 is the first development tool that lets you publish DVD-ROMs to both MAC and PC from the same source project. Director MX 2004 also allows you to embed Flash content (including menu systems) into your Director file and output as a Projector file onto DVD-ROMs. This way you can use Flash to build menus for interactive DVD. Again, however, this will not work with set-top DVD players.

cheers
So i guess the answer (if there is one) is to create it in flash, import to director 2004 and export to DVD Rom format.
I'm going into work (at a web design firm) today (was on paternity leave for the last 2 weeks) so I'll ask there.
