    Loading external files

    Hi

    Does anyone know how i can load a quicktime movie file from a button that is within my flash movie?

    I want the button to locate the quicktime movie file on my harddrive and then load it, so that it opens using quicktime.

    Is there a line of code that loads external files? because i have tried LoadMovie, but it loads onto a level which is no good, and i have tried get URL but that is only for web use.

    Any ideas?

    thanx

    If you are using a browser you could use a simple...

    getURL("myMovie.mov");

    yes i've tried that and it does work,
    but my movie is to be placed a CD and sent to a company, so i donit want it to open up in a browser as it has its own resized box.

    Is there no way of loading external files from flash player?

    Thanx for the help

    Then you should check Stanalone & Applications section here.

    You can open a exe ( the quicktime player ) with fscommand but will probably not be able to tell the player what file it should open.
