    jpeg question

    hi there,

we all know that jpeg images lose its quality when the file is resaved.

But does this apply when i just open and close the file without saving? or drag and copy the file into another folder?

    thanks.

It should only lose quality if you resave it at less than 100% quality, and it certainly won't lose quality just by copying the file.

I think it loses quality when you resize it too. also try saving it as a .png and importing it. i think the quality is sometimes better, and it supports transparent backgrounds.

    cheers,

If you have saved it via "Save For Web" in Photoshop OR Illustrator, then have another file which is 'Saved For Web', and place the initial "SAVED FOR WEB" file into it, the image quality will usually go down every time you repeat the process.

I've noticed this problem reoccurring plenty in the process of coming up with image-only-prototypes for websites that need graphic revisions.

    Hope that helped at all.
