    multiple...um, what is it called?

not sure what you call it but i was told you can do it in quark so i assume you can do it also in inDesign

let's say i designed a business card in indesign. my indesign document is 3.5" x 2" ok so now i want to create a pdf for print but i dont want just one on a page i want multiples of them. what is the best way to do this without making a page full of them myself?

It's called "step and repeat". It's in the item menu. Basically you specify how many duplicates you want and how far they are positioned from one another.

For business cards just position your original in the upper left corner and enter 4 repeats of 2 inches vertical and 0 inches horizontal. That gives you the first column of 5. Then select all of those, group them and do it again with 1 repeat of 3.5 inches horizontal and 0 vertical. now you have a group of 10 cards. In printing they refer to that as 10 up. You can then group them all and align them to the center of the page.

BTW, this is the way it works in Quark.
