    embedding quicktime vr movies

    hi,
can anyone suggest the best way to display vr movies over the web.
for some reason i can't embed a quicktime vr movie into flash, and having the quicktime movies as standalone means a lengthy download for the player(don't know why quicktimes player is now 11meg!!!).
otherwise can anyone suggest alternative vr software??
    thanks
    g

You can use a small java applet ( 4kb or so ) to show your VR movies. It will show on any browser. I use the janorama applet and you just have to use the panorama jpg file , so you dont have to convert the thing to a special format.

You can see a example of mine here ( taken with ONE image ) inside a basket hoop ?????. The quality and that good but you'll see how th VR viewer works.

    hi,
thanks for those links and while they are what i'm looking for to insert the panoramic jpegs...i've actually invested in the software to create the quicktime movies, so now need to extract the jpegs from the software in order to follow the instructions in your link.
i don't suppose you know of how this is possible??
or if anyone else out there has an idea??
it would just save having to stitch together all the images again (which is quite a long winded process.
    thanks a lot

I dont know what software you use but I would think most of them can output a jpg of the panorama.

I usually stitch in Photoshop, creating a jpg and then use the QuickTime's free tools to make the quicktime movie.

Sometimes I shoot thru a sphere mirror and then I dont have to stitch at all =).

can't you just take a panoramic image and put it into flash so that someone can pan around?

Yes but the look will be very flat as Flash does not have any lens correction. There is a company that have developed a Flash player with lenscorrection for specrical panoramas but it is not as fast or accurate as quicktime.

Then there are a lot of jpg panorama viewers in the Movies section, but the result is very flat looking.

QuickTime also supports cubic panoramas where you can look all the way up and down as well.

Just for fun, heres one of the greatest panorama image ideas Ive ever seen. And very well executed. ( Where is the camera? )

They are built in the QuickTime Player ( actually its more perspective correction ).

There are however free Lens Correction tools like deFish ( Mac ) and Panorama Tools ( plugin for Photoshop ). For more and links to these options go to the gratest learning site for VR at www.panoguide.com ( and the new version www.panoguide.net ) with forums.
