    how can i read a GZ file?

    Hi,

    I made a backup of one of my MySQL databases, and it came in a GZ file.

    How can I read it? Is there a way to put it on a spreadsheet of some sort? (ie. Excel or Works Spreadsheet?)

    Hi,

    gz just stands for compression - use the gzip program (or maybe winzip, if you are running windows) to expand.
    You will likely have a common mysqldump then, that is a text file with sql statements to create tables and insert data
