    wha?

title to get you in here is all.

listen, have searched thru some of the threads looking for the answer, but do you have any clue how many are archived?

am teaching a web design class next week, and want to start these people off on the right foot. Meaning? well, lets worry about aestetics and design and building a portfolio, BEFORE we worry about going whoo hoo with code....

so, need to know of free hosting, bannerless. I realize there's beer.com and lycos and geocities and tripod and blah blah blah blah....

but I want these people to be able to build an online portfolio of all their knoweldge to be able to present to employers when they are finished their education...

so, a bannerless hosting site that will support html, java, flash and all that there - would be appreciated.

    c'monm people

We're in Canada, so it needs to be easily accessible from here if possible.

    Hiya J!

Getting into the teaching circles, eh? I did a spate a while back on C/C++ programming - very rewarding!

Anyway, I've always pointed people to Freedom2Surf[http://www.f2s.com/free/free%20home.htm] as I found them fast, reliable and quick with the customer service when needed!

    Here's what they offer:

    Free High Performance Web Space
Host your very own website on the Freedom To Surf backbone web servers featuring:

    20 Mbytes of web space
    Frontpage 2000 support
    Advanced PHP4 scripting
    Perl cgi scripting
    Webalizer website statistics
    website Search Engine
    Database Servers
    http://www.YOURNAME.f2s.com

The Freedom To Surf website service offers the technology to create the best looking and feature rich websites possible.

Whether you're an individual or a company the service is FREE and does not require adverts or other sponsorship information to be displayed on your site.

Freedom To Surf is commited to supporting the Best Current Practice guides as outlined at the LINX
They are based here in the UK but, as I said, they are the most reliable and feature rich FREE host I know [with or without ads]!

I use http://www.tbns.net they've worked pretty great thus far and are fully banner free- however there's no ftp or cgi support.

20 megs of ad free web space

    Easy to use file manager

Fast, secure, & easy to maintain

    * There is no FTP or CGI Support at this time.

I had been using http://www.crosswinds.net but they just added banners unfortunately.

    Good luck in your search
