Need help with dropdown Flash submenus

I have followed the tutorial for dropdown submenus which is in the tutorial section . . . about 10 times. I still am having a problem getting the menus to work. I need help in troubleshooting the menus contained in this Flash intro:

    and

Can anybody on this forum do this kind of menu?

    Thanks in advance.

Thank you Old Newbie. But I really am too abysmally ignorant to know what your solution means.

The problem with asking for help with Flash is to even know how to ask the question. Then, because one doesn't have enough knowledge (and hence must seek help), it is a problem to know enough to interpret the answers . . . which are invariably given at a level of knowledge higher than the what the asker has to begin with.

So just giving me that file doesn't tell me very much.

I assume you mean that I would deconstruct the fla file and figure out that I need to add a frame action to each navigation movieclip IN ADDITION to the button actions?

I tried that, but I lacked some essential pieces of information.

So, I'll try again to rephrase my questions very specifically and hope that the incredibly high level of intelligence among Flash actionscripting gurus won't preclude me from getting an answer too brilliant for me to figure out.

Look . . . I just have to have an array of 11 buttons, each of which (1) is an active link itself, leading to one of 11 sections in a large website, (2) opens a submenu of additional buttons which are active links, (3) on rollover calls an alternate popup text explanation which appears in the main timeline, and (4) also triggers an alternate accent image.

I have followed the tutorial for creating dropdown menus and I'm going to go through it yet again this morning and simply report back here when I hit a snag. The problem seems to be right now that (1) the menu doesn't return to it's neutral state when I roll off of the hit button, (2) the live links in the submenu buttons do not trigger the "get URL" function.

I'm going to start the tutorial again, from scratch and see if I can find what I'm doing wrong. Please consider, when trying to answer questions, that if I had enough understanding of actionscripting to understand your answer, I wouldn't have to ask the question in the first place. I am suitably humble and recognize just how abysmally ignorant I am, but I have to make this menu any way and hence I must ask for assistance over and over until I can figure this out. I fully recognize that I don't know enough. But surely there is an explanation that even a I can understand with enough humility and caffeine?

Sorry for my denseness, but I really need full explanations.

Or . . . I am more than willing to pay someone to help me troubleshoot this menu because I have a deadline and have to get it done. I have no problem subcontracting it, if someone will step forward with an adequate explanation or a willingness to peruse the file and help me figure out what I'm missing.
