    I'm brand new at projector

    Hi...

Can you guys point me to some resources where I can read/learn more about creating projector (exe) files out of SWF. Do I need any software other than MX?

Thanks for your help and pointing me in the right direction. The projector tuts on this site all talked about manipulating the exe, but I'm not even to the point that I can create the exe!!!!

    Please help.

You can create basic projector (EXE) files with Flash, just go to the Publish Settings and check off Windows or Macintosh projector and when you publish Flash will create an executable for the platform you selected.

These tools (below) will allow you to modify an existing EXE file (includes Flash projectors) to change the icon, string resources, dialogs and more. They don't give you complete control of the EXE file, but they will allow you to make simple "branding" changes.

You can also find a pre-modified projector file at http://www.aritali.com/products/editedplayer/.

Proxy is a tool I wrote that will let you run BAT files from Flash and avoid the ugly DOS box. The best part? It's absolutely FREE. You can download the utility from www.northcode.com/misc/proxy.zip. There's some documentation in the ZIP file, but there was a big disussion about it (and some other utilities I wrote) in this thread... http://www.flashkit.com/board/showth...readid=519274. IF you search here for northcode and utility you'll find a bunch of other FREE utilities I've created over the years.

If you're looking for a solution for PocketPC, you'll want to check out a company called handsmart and their product FlashPack (http://www.handsmart.com/flashpackMain.asp) - not to be confused with the desktop FlashNPack.

Finally, here's a list of third party ($) tools that you might want to check out. They let you move beyond the limitations of Flash and start creating desktop applications that can look and behave like normal Windows applications.

    SWF Studio http://www.northcode.com
    Flash Studio http://www.multidmedia.com
    Jugglor http://www.***********.com
    SWFKit http://www.swfkit.com
    SWiSH Studio http://www.swishzone.com
    FlashAnts http://www.flashants.com
    LPFlashEX http://www.logicplus.com.hk
    Flash 'N Pack http://www.flashnpack.com

Finally, this isn't a projector tool, but a very useful utility from Atomik Software called Fire-Up. It lets you launch files on Mac OS 9/Classic, Windows NT, Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows 98, Windows ME and Mac OS X. It's currently selling for EUR 45.00

    Thank You!!!

I want to thank you so much for this. I'm going to read up on all of it, and rock it.

I LOVE FlashKit!!! It has been so long since I've had to use it. I'm glad it's still the best resource on the web for flash development.
