    Text Scroll Problem

    Hello people,

I am using text scroll boxes thru out my website. The maintext box(body) is set to 'multiline'- I have the onclip event set telling it what 'External Text file' to load in the text box. They all work....except one which is for a 'BIO' only lists about 3/4 of my BIO information then will not scroll any farther (it just stops).

This is really weird....I have tried to extend the 'textbox' area...nothing has worked to this point. All the information is in the appropriate text file (bio.txt)

Anyone have any ideas how I can fix this problem?
I have tried a few things..

    Thanks in advance,

    Hi there,

check the content of your text file for the ampersand "&". This will tell flash that the variable ends there!

If you need to use the & sign, enter %26 and flash will display the & sign without ending the variable.

    Hey Oldnewbie

Going along with this info you sent to me a while ago....
How can I get an Http link to show up in these text files when they are uploaded to the web?

    I have tried <a href="http://www.blabla.com"></a>

but it didn't seem to work? Is there some setting or something I am not doing?
I need to have this ability to have these links display and be active.

Any ideas? I know it can be done....

    Thanks in advance

    What info was that?

Maybe attach a small mockup .fla of what you're trying to achieve?
As allways, zipped up and in MX only format.

No....what I am referring to is a text scroll box on a website that can be updated by the user or owner of the website. You know how you use a simple .txt file to update the information in these scrollboxes.
The updates work fine...no problems at all.......I can't however get any links to work in the updates if I or the person updating the website wish to use them.

    I used <a href="http://www.blabla.com"></a>

Now nothing in that link shows...I'll attach just the simple text file.

Nothing shows up? Or just not the "a href" links?

Yep...the href links do not appear at all when I use the HTML code of <a href="http://www.blabla.com"></a>

Which is odd...to me at least......

    Any ideas?

Well not exactly... First you don't need the "target blank" bit and you need to insert the word(s) you wish to be the link between the < a href> & < /a> tags. Something like "VISIT KNUCKLEHEADS" which would be the actual link corresponding to the URL in the preceding < a href> tag ...
    code:

    ...
    <font color="#0000FF">< a href="http://www.knuckleheads.ca">VISIT KNUCKLEHEADS</a>
    ...

Don't worry! I've done much worse (? or worst - never know which one I should use!) myself!

Should I add my "distinctive Québec" clear thinking? Maybe not!
