Anyone know a good, cheap paint job place? (for car)

Ive got like NO experence in paint at all, so I dont think I can paint the car myself......

I was planing on going to Macco for there $300 thing, but I heard that only last 3 months!!!!

I also read that a good paint job cost around 4k from specialty places!!!

The car is only worth 7k (dodge neon), all I would like is a soild color, and maybe a clearcoat...

    So... any suggestions?

    Are there and dents?

My brother does body work, so I know a tiny bit about this, I know you definately want the clear coat or your paint job will not last, or stay shiny. I'm visiting my brother next week, I'll ask him what is a reasonable price for something like that, and if there are any paints to stay away from.

I wouldn't try painting it yourself, there's a lot that goes into it, plus certain sprayers that are better. Plus if the area you're spraying in isn't completely sealed off you can get dust and particles in the paint and will look really lousy.

If you could find a body man that works out of his own garage on the side, it might save you some cash. That's what my brother does, since he owns all of the equipment.

This is one of those things where you get what you pay for. The materials for painting a car are relatively cheap. It's the labor that goes into prepping the car. That is what takes a lot of time and experience to do.

Depending on where you are and the condition of your car, you're looking at anything from 2-4K to get the outside of your car painted. This should include door jams and trunk.

If you really want to go cheap, you can search the web a bit more about how to properly prep your car before painting. This involves a lot of block sanding, bondo, straightening. It's not difficult, it just involves a lot of time, patience, and bruised fingers. Then once you feel it is ready for paint, you can take it to Maaco and supply your own paint and have them spray it. Maaco isn't that bad at spraying cars, they just do shoddy prep work and average quality paint.

That sounds to me like you're going to buy a car and then respray it?

If that's the case, it's a stupid idea. Find the car in the color you want and buy that one. Shoot a car like a Neon and your US$7K investment will be worth about US$1,500 once you're done.

No one will consider buying a resprayed car of that type, unless they're dumb or blind. Or both.

And it that's not the case, best you describe more fully what you intend to do.

it's a neon, nobody will care.

take 3k and buy an old benz diesel or nissan, invest the other 4k.

I feel sorry for Americans, not being able to import without having to spend thousands ontop.
