site i made for a painter

This is my second real site.

I just finished this site for a painter - printmaker and wondered what feedback I might get. I need to know how quick it is on dial up too. The file sizes are very small, about 20 kb each page so i have not made pre loaders but who knows, perhaps i migh have to if you say its slow. Also of course, what you think in general.

    Once again thanks guys.

Not bad for your second site. I didn't see the sub navigation on the bottom left on the portfolio section right away. the site design doesn't draw attention to that area.

    hi there,

thats a nice site youve got there, but theres 1 thing that "bothers" me..plz dont c it as an insult

youve made a site for an painter...the main thing what this site is about is to show the portfolio of this person. Why did you put the portfolio at the end of the menubar? "Normally" (whats normal these days?), you put guestbook and contact at the end of the menu...

    Cheers,

    Bokkie,

I know its not an insult man

It tried the portfolio in different positions and when it opened underneath (the sub sections such as etchings, still life etc) it looked really odd and out of place further up near the about button - if that makes sense? cheers for the feedback

I'm glad you like the site though as i am only an amateur web designer

    I like it

Nice site, functional and great music.

Is the portfolio dynamic? and if yes did you script it yourself? How do you load the photos?

    Nice work.

    inasite,

It was a thread about loading in photos at kirupa.com and in that discussion we spoke of actionscript that could be used to do this. In each of the portfolio fla's etchings, still life etc, there is some action script in the main timeline that tells it to load the pics into an empty movie clip on the stage. There is also a border movie clip on the stage so that you can see that elesticy effect.

    that helpful?

    glad you like it,

    cheers.

beautiful site, nothing feels cluttered, the text is consistently crisp and the transitions are so smoothly animated, it enhances instead of distracts. although I'll suggest you also close the menus in the porfolio section when the user clicks on something else (instead of clicking on the CLOSE button below). maybe I'm just lazy

and, can I also have the FLA that clews was asking for? please?

    question...

hi mal, your site looks AMAZING!! I had downloaded your FLA and i somewhat understand what you are doing, but is there a way that u can have the button also do a "goto" action?? I followed everything you did, and it works great but when i apply a goto action, nothing happens. is there a way around it or am i just a not seeing it? thanks =)
