The best thing about it is that you can have all stereos in your house playing the same tunes without the need for expensive linked systems.

I'm sorry but tapes are SO past it.
That may against the FCC's (or equivilant organisation) rules

    Exactly!

Even as a kid I had a home project electronics kit that would easily transmit over 50 meters with a little tweeking

*Radio Markp.com is now on the airwaves!*

all of this talk about radio vs. tape, what not. bah.

my alpine has an Auxilliary input in the back of the head unit, to which they connected the Monster™ iPod wiring kit... and I just choose AUX on my head unit.

In a couple of months, when Alpine releases the iPod interface, I'll get that and be able to control and charge the thing from the head unit.

yup, i agree on this one. bought the fm transmitter, that sucked, so i ganked the tape adapter from my girl's car. much better.

now i just have a billion cables in my ride, but at least it sounds good.

i'd consider using a straight-up line in, but a new head unit for my make & model is a real hassle.

edit: there is the option of a cable that hooks up to the cd changer cable, and then i have to run that through the trunk, under the back seat, through the console, and then up to the iPod. think i'll hold off for a bit.
