How do i size pop up windows?

    Hi,

Im new to flash but have managed a simple site for my mates band

    http://www.yetiintelligence.com

Im doing a new one for them and want to be able to control the size of windows that pop up when you click the buttons. In the version of Flash im using , to achieve pop ups i use the Action command 'getURL' which works fine but the windows pop up at random sizes.

How do i set the size at which these new windows should open up at?? Ive seen it done on lots of other sites and it looks great!

    Thanks.

    Hi

Thanks for the info and i've followed it letter by letter. Thing is when i 'Publish' the flash site containing the new script for the buttons and test it out on my desktop, the buttons don't really work as planned.. im still getting the normal size pop up window (with scroll bars etc.). do i have to upload it to the web to see the window pop up in its new sized format? I work on a computer that is offline and transfer the finished elements to a friends laptop where he uploads everything to our server. Still, i thought thered be a way of seeing it all act like proper site offline. Is there??

No, it doesn't have to be online, but you do have to test popups from an html page, not in test movie mode. And if they are not coming up at the size you set in the getURL line, then you did something wrong.

Yeah, I don't think this will work in 5. Not sure. You should be testing from the html page of the flash movie that launches it though, not the popup page itself.

You might try this one. It uses java on the html page and a flash button to launch it.

I built an example popup folder for Flashdimwit on a thread called "Popup Window" currently on page 3 of this board.
Download it and try it out.
No javascript in the page just on the flash button.
main htm holds the swf and the swf pops a page called dino

    Hope this helps?

    P.S.
Wouldn't life be easy if Keyboards had a "Make It So" button?
It could sit next to the "Any" key!!
