preloading external jpg from xml

is it possible to have a flash movie download an xml, read it to determine what external jpgs need to be loaded, and download those jpg's as well, all within the swf's preloading phase?

if anyone can point me in the right direction with this one, i would appreciate it.

Yes,

Macromedia have an example slideshow application on there site (not sure where but I have modified it for a bunch of people before).
