    can anyone help?

    hi,

i am using flash mx and am half way through creating my first site in flash.

i have made each page into a sepertae swf file so that it is quicker to load. but i am having a few problems with loading new pages on top of page before.

i think it is an actionscript problem but its is quite hard to explain to i have uploaded my site so far to see if anyone can steer me in the right direction.

i would really appreciate this people..

Nice site, but i don't see the problem...
If this is some attempt to show off your site then you should of posted here:

    Link

You would get a better response..
If you really do have a problem then despite it being hard you need to explain it better.

    Sorry i couldn't help.

    thanks for the compliment!

but i really do have a problem and am not trying to show off at all.

    this is my problem..

When the site opens, and you see the first page (about) the logo in the top corner is blue. Then when you click on to the "events" page it goes orange. (which is all good)

Now if you go from the "events" page to the "video" page the "about" page comes up first for a few second (depending on your connection speed) and then goes to green "video" page.

I dont want the home page to keep loading in between each page.

Don't unload the previous movie... Loading a new one will automatically replace the previous one...

The problem is probably cause by the way you designed your movie...

The "home page" elements, should be loaded as all other pages, rather than being included in your main movie. You should only have your background to start with, and load up the "home page" as with all other pages, that way you wouldn't see a flash frame of the "home page" content when loading a new movie...

    Get what I'm saying?

Can you attach your .fla, zipped up and in MX only format, not MX2004, or mail it to me, if you don't want to post it here?
I'll PM you an address if you want to go the e-mail route.

ok thanks for all your help so far

iv opened a new document and began by getting all the element that i am using on the "about" page in to seperate movie clips.

    e.g

all of the pictures that where on the main scene are now within a movie clip.

am i going down the right track?

Yeah! It can possibly be done with a movie clip, but that will envolve more coding, and you may still have problems when playing with the visibility of your "home page" clip. To simplify the whole thing, I'd simply make the "home page" content, a seperate external .swf, as all of your other pages...

So basically have a main interface movie, but your background, and immediately load the "home page" .swf on level 1, as you're doing with all your other pages... Thus your background remains "static" and only the other elements of all pages seem to update when loading a new external movie.
