    What's better then one screen?

    From left to right:

    19" AOC CRT @ 1600x1200
    17" Sony LCD X-Black 1280x1024
    17" Sony LCD 1280x1024
    17" Apple CRT 1600x1200

So what is driving the setup you ask?

Apple PowerMac G5 dual 1.8GHz with 4GB RAM
ATI Radeon 9800 Pro 128MB (For screen 1+2)
ATI Radeon 9200 PCI 128MB (For screen 3+4)

    Enough screen area? YES!

(Two 30" Cinema displays would still be nice, but way to expensive)

If you ask about the price of the setup ... the four screens and two gfx cards where still less expensive then one of those 30" Apple displays alone, even without the extra gfx card you need for them.

I don't want to hear the noise in that room and those are all PC's.

But I have to agree, very impressive.

I could order two more of those PCI cards, that would make 8 screens, with only one machine driving them, but ... ah, forget it, I'm happy with my 4 screen setup.

Even my Mom has a dual monitor setup at work. My boss still won't spring for it.

Why would you need more than one screen?

For example when I work on a DB driven client site:

Screen 1: File system of local machine/server and text editor
    Screen 2: Photoshop
Screen 3: All the small Photoshop panels and the DB admin tool
Screen 4: Browser with the website I'm working on

Just one of many examples. It's just much easyer to work if you have everything you work on on screen and not somewhere in a dock.

one qustion, How did he manage to get 13 monitors displaying the same game -it's a MS flight simulator right?-

and if it's powered by all those PC's how on earth did he manage to cluster it on all those machines and monitors

I love how the guy had to add one more extra monitor at the top for his messenger.

All (ok, some) of my friends have one, either. Amazing LCD, but for some work a CRT is still better.

There's software out there that allows you to hook up multiple monitors via multiple pcs.

Now that I get paid to Flash full time I have less time for 'hobbies'

I had a 4x19 monitor setup at home but I rarely used it after the new job, so I brought the extra in to work and am now down to 3 again...
