My new game NACG - Not Another Car Game.

    Hi!

First of all, thanks for a really good, informative forum.

Just wanted to show my latest (and first) game NACG.
    It's a top 2D-racer with highscores, 2-player mode, user-defined keys, levelcodes etc.
I just changed it to a projector so it has to be downloaded to play.
This because of significant increases in game-speed.

    C&C's are welcome.

    Get it here:

    Enjoy/

Good game, but the controls are very sensitive for me.

    Thanks for the feedback!

Regarding the controls, I agree that they probably are a little sensitive but I think it's a matter of practice. I think the best way to steer is by just trying to tap the left/right-buttons instead of just holding them down (wich often sends the player right of the track).
It's fully possible to drive all tracks with full throttle without losing control. It's more or less a must to beat the Mr.X drivers.
It takes some practice and timing to master though.

Or.. maybe I just made the game to damn hard... hope not.

Well, I hope you try it a couple more times before giving up.
    Good luck!

It is quite good. The graphics are perfect and it is very well polished.

    Problems I see:
    • The car slides way too much on the road
    • The ai is too perfect, put simply. It never goes off the road and always follows the same path. Either make different paths for each course and randomly pick one, or make the ai smart and let the ai find its own way around the track, then randomize the speed so it will always be different and sometimes make mistakes.
•It would be nice to make an online version, as it is not nice to make everyone download it

    Regarding your observations.

The car-sliding is pretty varied for the different tracks. For example, I don't think the first track is that slippery, but the ones with mud, oil or ice on them are pretty slippery. Maybe too much?

The AI. Well, actually I agree on this. First I fiddled around with an angle-based solution that almost worked as I wanted and then I thought of mixing that with the way-point-system currently used but I didn't manage to do it as fast and good as I wanted so It's just waypoints now. The speed is actually randomly altered for every race, but not very much. It might be too little to notice.

Originally it was an online version but the performance of the game was really bad and when doing a projector it was waaaay better so that's why I did it this way.

    Thanks for the pointers/
