    first site

Okay, i've been working on this and staring at it so long that i just really don't know what to do now. I am pretty much teaching myself, probably like most of you, so any advice and suggestions you can offer would be great. Also, Anybody know of a good place to get sound files? Also, I don't like how the buttens on the homepage are flashing, they are annoying i think. Thanks for looking.

nice work, i think instead of having basic html buttons on your home page, "enter site" and "get flash" they should maybe be graphics imported from illustrator or freehand or something similar, maybe use the font you have used in the main body of the site. adds a bit of uniformity.

also need a preloader on photography section 300 odd kb without a preloader is too much in my view.

wouldnt change much else, good job!!

    >Yeah, think you could do more with the splash page

Some of the photography buttons don't show an enlarged version.

How is this splash page? All of the photo buttons should be working now also. Also, does anybody know how I can make my html pages fit to the exact size of the flash movie?

I like the main bg, but I think you could use a border or something to define it a bit more. I don't think I'd suggest a straight-edged one for your site, since you don't use a lot of lines. But something that sort of helps transition from the image to the bg would be good.

Also, I think it would look nicer if you center the flash rather than leave it on the left. Especially with people using the new widescreen displays, a centered site looks a lot better than one on the side.

And ditto on the preloaders. Even on broadband the wait is a bit long to not have one.

You've got a great start though, and lots of potential.

    pics

Okay, I am looking at other peoples sites, and their pictures don't look all blurry like mine do. I saved my in photoshop under "save for web" at the highest jpeg setting. Should I have done something else? I really want them to come in clear- especially on some of the graphic design stuff where you can't read the words. Thanks.

Hmmm... I usually save mine at only 60 on the quality scale. One thing is to make sure that the images are lined up exactly on a pixel. When you see the information on the image (or movie clip), make sure your x and y are integers.

Also, make sure you don't shrink the images in flash. Export from photoshop at the size you want to display in flash. If you make the image smaller in flash, it will look a bit blurry.

Also, when you export the flash file, make sure you keep your jpg setting high in the export properties. If you have nice jpg's and then export your flash with a low jpg setting, they'll be lower quality.
