    MC as a button

    I am setting up a website with 5 sections. So 5 buttons with load - unload movie actions. SO far so good.

    The buttons work ok. Now I want to make the buttons more interesting, so I am turning them into MC's.

    But (of course) now they don't work no more.

    Actions for (one of the) buttons:
    on (press) {
    tellTarget ("motion") {
    gotoAndPlay(2);
    }
    tellTarget ("motion1") {
    gotoAndStop(1);
    }
    tellTarget ("motion2") {
    gotoAndStop(1);
    }
    tellTarget ("motion3") {
    gotoAndStop(1);
    }
    }

    Now if I put this action to the button field within the MC I get an error:
    Target not found: Target="motion4" Base="_level0.instance6"

    Some more info: Every button loads a external swf into it's own content MC.

    Anyone can see my problem and even a solution or is it still to confusing? Sorry for that!

    what version of flash are you using?
    telltarget is fairly obsolete now-a-days

    code:

    on (press) {
    _root.motion.gotoAndPlay(2);
    _root.motion1.gotoAndStop(1);
    _root.motion2.gotoAndStop(1);
    _root.motion3.gotoAndStop(1);
    }

    does that work any better?
    what the hell's a motion tween?

    Before I answer that hehehe, have to check it out first, I used this tutorial:

    http://www.flashkit.com/tutorials/Ac...-948/index.php

    So what I meant was to change the buttons into MC's with the same 'button' actions.

    Uhm by the way MX2004 version!
