    Flash 6 :

    Modularize : I like the freedom of shared libraries and the attachMovie method but they don't go far enough. More ways to share.

    Richer Scripting Language : Yes, Flash 5 actionScript is wonderful, but we could bennefit from an even richer set of tools to program with.

    Database Connection : This would greatly improve the depth of userInterfaces for Flash.

    A code searching tool that works : The current "movie explorer" is crap. Due to it's lack of accuracy it can only be trusted for the most mundane and unimportant searches. Good idea though.

    Global Search And Replace : 'nuff said.

    1.) BETTER PERFORMANCE!!!
    2.) MORE SOUND OPTIONS (like Pitch-Shifting, Time-Shifting, etc.)
    3.) Ability to save any data to the user's hard disk/registry.
    ...and last but not least one thing Macromedia CAN'T provide: better NUTSCRAPE browsers with full (not only a quarter) Flash support!

    Hear, hear!! I know Quicktime is there, but I really need better possibilities with MPG.

    And I want to add: The abillity to manipulate the outputed pixels would be cool. Something like: Setproperty(GetProperty(Pixelarea:xx,yy),"Colorcod e", "OtherAttribute") ;-)

    I think this is the natural path of evolution from cartoons and math-animation/math-"nature-construction" (Check out New Masters of Flash).

    How about that new graphics format?????????????????? (Will this get me shot?)

    Favourites from other post (I'm still reading here on page 8, he, he (slow connection)):
    - Low-level Sound manipulation.
    - Keep the player slim above all. The market will reject a bulky player (but loooove a zillion facillities in the authoring environment).

    think so

    Yes....3rd party plug-ins and html support seem to be the greatest improvement. So everybody could try to programm his own solutions. Integration of Progs like Photoshop would perhaps be possible with an open interface.

    Shared libraries should be heaven as well.
    Should be fun, making one movie with a team and not having to think about differences in objects.

    Simple. Why doesn't macromedia look at other programs for the demands of users.

    Ie.
    simple 3d tools
    ability to create screensavers...

    There are alot of programs out there that seem to be easy features to impliment.

    The screensaver option should be an export feature of flash.

    A couple of extra tools would allow some pseudo 3d effects....

    I wish.............

    I would like to see the layout of Photshop 6 in Flash 6, which means all the palletes be set up on the top of the page as tabs. I hate having many, many palletes open as it takes away from my working space, just a thought.

    There are two features that would aid in the Flash development process immensely! These features are a hide/shy layers feature and a jump to Label (Marker) feature. Both of these features are for the Timeline window, cater to the Flash developer to ease and expedite the Flash Creation process.

    The first of these features, Hide/Shy layers, will help tremendously in conserving screen real-estate. It would have a toggle button added to each layer in the layer switches area that would set that layer to be shy or not. Another item would be added to the View menu (and possibly to the main toolbar) for Hiding shy layers. When a layer is "shy" and hidden, it's characteristics are still active and visible on the stage, but the layer's timeline is temporarily removed from the timeline enabling the Flash developer to only view pertinent timelines on which he/she is working. This feature is available in Adobe AfterEffects and is an invaluable tool.

    The second feature, Jump to Label, is based on Macromedia Director's jump to Marker. As the user creates Labels on Frames while in the Flash development stage, the labels would be automatically appended to a Flyout/DropDown list available from the timeline window (probably near the Center Frame and Onion skinning buttons). This feature would act similar to the Center Frame button only it would first move the playback head to the Frame of the Label selected and then Center it in the timeline window.

    Enough with the whining

    --So many of you are wanting Flash 4 back. Why don't you just uninstall and reinstall or install both. I started using Flash 5 when it came out. It did take some time to get used to the new layout and mysteriously disappeared options, but after a couple of days of tinkering through, I have found everything. After 2 days, and finding the new locations of the options, Flash 5 does make development a little quicker. The only drawback I have found with this is that a laptop (even with a 15" screen) is out of the question. Hardware requirements should definitely include 19" monitor or better.
    --As far as wishing, Dropshadows, lighting effects, and other "Eyecandy" features would be very nice. And for the smart ones out there, I know Fireworks uses the Photoshop Plug-ins, but that would mean using another program for that alone, and I won't give up Photoshop.

    idea...

    i think that something no one has really done yet is a great music/soundfx actionscipting of property editor

    being able to turn certain sounds off (i know there is a work around with extrenal movies)

    and sync for all sounds playing

    have loop1 start at frame 1 and go for 1 second @ 30fps
    then at frame 30 have loop1 blend seamlessly into loop1

    have loop1 be the drums
    loop2 be the keyboard techno
    loop3 be vocals

    so on and so forth

    i have been trying my best to do this with flash 2/3/4/5 since ive been a flasher!!!

    Sorry in Advance for losing threads

That is when Flash, and it's bigger brother Director will truely shine. what I really need to get out though is that we may need to have a look at the source of the comment in the first place... does anyone own jacob nielsen's book on useability? from the first time you open it, the overly stiff cover flaps keep you from ever setting the book down properly. Mine has more folds in it than the face on a Bush. So everyone needs to take this with a grain of salt.

    Loved this comment
    But to return to the matter in hand slightly (Flash6).
    It strikes me that Flash5 hasn't been beta tested properly, at least if it has, it has been the developers or their close family who have been relied on.
    Or these boards wouldn't be full of the comments they usually are. I for one wasn't asked. Hopefully next time I will be. Lots of the wishes in this thread have been like - asking for every application in one. I think that there should be specialisation such, that is evident in Flash, but that the tool should be in perfect working order before it hits production!

    I really wish they'd give an option to convert lines into shapes, or an option that would keep the stroke size proportional to the original when scaling. I also think the mixer panel needs some work. The color area is too small causing a big color change with little movement of the cursor. And with a small swatch area, it's hard to gauge exactly what the colour looks like. In my opinion they ought to make the color area scale if/when you scale the panel itself.

    A real programming language ...

    I want to do much more thing by programmation than what there are in
    actionscript. In fact I would like a real programming language.

    I would thing like:

    myImage = new Image;
    myImage.src = /some/where/here.gif;
    myImage.width = 100;
    myImage.x = 0;

    anyObject.onclick( someFunction );

    myText = new String;
    myText = "Hello World";
    myText._bold = true
    or
    myText.bold;
    myText.font = "Some cool font";

    anyMovieClip.drawPolygone( ArrayOfPoint );
    or better:
    myPolygone = new Polygone( ArrayOfPoint );
    Polygone.ArrayOfPoint[0] =(100,100);
    Polygone.lineColor = "#FFFFFF";
    Polygone.fillColor = "#000000";

    Polygone.scale = 30;

    \\Move the polygone, the value is the one of the first point.
    Polygone.move(+10,+10) or
    Polygone.move(100,100);

    movieClip.scaleTop = 30;
    /* do thing like:
    ____
    / \
    / \
    -------- *\
    movieClip.scaleRigth = 30; // so on ...

    Store data locally ...
    ( Implement cookie or write to the disk.
    Ok this last can be a security hole,
    but why not in his sand box? Just like
    the cookie? )

    Ride off the "_" in front of the proprieties!!!!

    And the plugin still runnning fast.

    Ok, sorry I'm a hard coder,
    If i could do everything I can do in javasript ,
    that's could be a good beginning!

    I'd like to see the ability to get rid of the borders and titles, change the logos and create transparent backgrounds for projector files without having to fork out extra money for third party software. I think that flash would be ideal for creating those interactive desktop characters that you can get. If you can stick one of these toys or e-cards on someones desktop that links to your sites you can get more traffic.

    I also agree with the idea of being able to use plugin filters from things like photoshop.

    As for the interface, I think that after the fuss kicked up by Adobe? They'll probably change it back to the flash 4 style anyway.

    Flash 6 Needs Quicktime support

    Flash 6 Needs to support QUICKTIME without calling html pages.

    My programming counterparts are convinced that Flash is all about intros and suppliments. Flash needs to fully distinguish itself as a complete web solution. Perhaps this would even include a backend HTML type integration to shut them up. B)

    Did I mention Quicktime?
