    Can you lock parts within a fla?

    Just wondering if it is possible to lock certain parts within a fla so they can only be changed with a password.

    Thanks
    I can always use more help!

    I do not believe that there is a option to lock symbols, graphics, bitmaps, etc. within a flash file. If you do find a way to, please post I am curious to know myself.

    I've been thinking if you can't lock it what is the best way to make it invisible?

    Thanks

    It just depends on what type of asset it is. If it is a movieclip you can make it invisisble, change the alpha setting, move it off screen with x and y coordinates, etc. I just depends on exactly what you are trying to achieve for the movie.

    Well Lenny,

    Lets say I want to sell the fla's source but I want to put my own locking device if somebody refunds so I can shut them down. Well I don't want them to see the source for the locking device.

    It's that simple.

    Thanks

    so you want to remotely lock it?

    that's not something i've heard of - interesting idea though.

    Lenny,

    Yeah it's going to be gold. For my products like http://www.swfaudio.com and http://www.swfvisual.com they currently look for a txt file so other people can't steal them but very soon I'm going to add a feature which pings my server telling me where they are etc so I can disable the player or even better redirect it to any url I want. VERY POWERFUL!

    Nice idea but I know most people wont buy without a gurantee.

    Thanks

    Hmm, just thought of something for you, I've had a look through a book of mine, and there are somethings you can do:

    myURL=_url;
    okDomain="www.myhost.com/clientsname.html"
    if(myURL.indexOf(okDomain) != -1) {
    _root.gotoAndStop("main screen")
    } else {
    _root.gotoAndStop("warning message");
    }

    and then you can also obfuscate the code so it can't be read without encryption..

    Andy xx
