    site name

    I got one more question:

I really want to launch my flash portfolio site really soon, but I can't think of a single good name (that isn't taken). Can you guys give me some suggestions as to what it could be? I think I'd like "flash" in the title, since that's what i use.

    Thank you very much.

you could be flashfish.com.. that way my website could eat yours..

And yes I know that was a really stupid joke..

It's 100% up to you man.. and the word flash doesn't have to be in it. but it should be something that someone can remember and spell out easily just from hearing it. for example a website like www.xifstermax.com might not be good for a portfolio, you tell that to your prospects they're gonna look at you funny and ask you how to spell it..

I recommend not using the word "flash" anf getting a .com if your in the US because thats the most common thing. X.com instead of something like X.biz. Its really up to you, if you want a company name make one up to use it, otherwise use your intials or your name. Something easy to remember.

flashpenguin:Your web site changed my browser size

Please remove that 'feature' as it's:
    • Pointless
    • Waste of time
    • Annoying to people with small screens
    • Annoying to people with big screens
    • Looks stupid
    • It doesn't actually work properly in my browser, so there's big gaps at the bottom and on the right
    • Any more reasons?
    Thank you

Almost all single word sites are taken, and 2 words sounds stupid, so get a three syllable site, like 'heresmysite.com' or 'ilikeflash.com'. They are easy to remember and are fun to pronoune.

Oh, and .net is just as big as .com nowadays, so I would get .net. It sounds a lot more like a flash site and less like a cheesy company.

It really is annoying! Especially for sites like that one where the actual content is about 5 pixels wide by 4 high. No offence or anything to the owner

gee thanks guys.. by the way I thought I already fixed this problem because it doesn't do that to me anymore on FF or IE so I don't know what browser you're using, but I'll check my code anyway..

The problem is the fact it still plays around with my browser. I refuse to use web sites that do that because it messes about with my stuff!

I'm using Safari, if that helps fix the problem caused by the problem.

    That's a very good point

And to show my sorrow and goodwill, I don't think putting "flash" in the name will be very helpful. You need a generic name rather than something specific. Like pearsandcatfood.com

I won't now because of the resizing, there are lots of sites I've visited in the past and enjoyed but don't bookmark because I don't like them messing with my personal preferences in display settings. I don't mind sites that launch in pop windows if it's necessary (normally flash sites) but ones that actually change the settings I've chosen are simply annoying.

You never know, it might have been a site I'd go back to day after day!

Flashpenguin, I'm using Firefox 1.0 on XP and it resizes for me.

    Code:
<SCRIPT>//moves my browser window to the center of the screen and maximizes it
var w = screen.availWidth||screen.width//moves my browser window to the center of the screen and maximizes it
var h = screen.availHeight||screen.height//moves my browser window to the center of the screen and maximizes it
window.moveTo(0,0)//moves my browser window to the center of the screen and maximizes it
window.resizeTo(w,h)//moves my browser window to the center of the screen and maximizes it
    </SCRIPT>
    Evil code of death! DELORTED!

oh yeah.. sorry, I realized I actually had a two part code that was doing that task and I only deleted one part It resizes for me too if it's not maximized (just noticed) anyways you should learn to relax a little it's not like my site is hijacking your browser or anything it just maximizes it.. but you're right It is annoying and I will delete my code.. but I'm probably also right to assume you would of never gone back to it again anyway since it's not really a cool site..

What not be original and use Studios after the name you are going to use?
    Keep it rural.
