Sound OK locally but when FTP'd no sound on site

Hi,

New here and new with 3DFA. I have put together a SWF file with sound. I can open it in a web page locally and everything is as expected.

I then take that exact HTML code and integrate it into my site. I FTP the SWF to my site. There are no other sounds on embeded on the site.

When viewing the site, I get the video but no sound. I have checked the macromedia settings and can not find a sound setting.

Oh, and I am using the Demo version of 3DFA. The only limitation I understood with the DEMO was the inability to produce scripts after 7 days. Its has been less than 7 days so far.

Any ideas?

Hello dbeard,

Do you mean that you have included a sound file (wav/mp3/other) into the movie?

If so, did you leave the setting to 'Download external MP3' or change it to 'Export inside SWF'?

If it was 'Download external MP3' then it will take a moment or two before you hear any sound as the sound file is being loaded. It is also required to be FTP'd to the web site. 3DFA will create the MP3 file in the same directory that the swf file is created in. If it is 'Export inside SWF' then the sound should be heard as soon as the movie is loaded.

You were correct.....

You know, I thought I had changed that option.....

If I use a MP3 encoder to encode below the 16b/s minimum and export the files in the SWF, will 3DFA have an issue?

IS the 16 k/bs a SWF thing?

This is a tough one to answer.

Yes, it is a 'swf thing'. If MacroMedia Flash can handle it then 3DFA will.

I can only say, give it a try.
