First guess is that there is a deprecated naming convention used in AS 2.0 that is located in the code that is changing some object or variable name to something AS 2 uses.
I've experience this inconvenience with old files too.
Not sure which word it is in the code though.
Maybe a hot shot with AS 2.0 could help ya out. Not too familiar with it yet.
Path to the asfunction is the important bit here. If the function is defined on _level0 (the main timeline), the call in the text file (wherever the scroller is located) to the asfunction must point to _level0.myFunction...
Now whether the asfunction is just a trace, a loadMovie action in a container or a target, is irrelevant...
To clarify, I have a main.swf which loads external childmc.swf into a target called mc1. That child swf loads the textscroller. I'm not certain what path should be defined in the txt file. I attached a simple example of how my files work.
What movie is the main movie and the main timeline in this last package you've posted? Main.swf, right you are! So guess where the asfunction should be defined? In the main.fla, yes you're right again! And not in any other movie, as in the child.swf, as you presently have it!
I've been trying to create a bold typeface in the txt file using <b></b> tags because HTML is "true" but it isn't working. Anyone know how to make this work?
Both of the normal & bold outlines must be embedded, for both styles to appear in the textfield.
The easiest is to embed the normal font's outlines in the on stage textfield, and to embed the bold outlines in an unseen off-stage second textfield. Then and only then would both styles be available in the on stage textfield.
Attach your .fla and text file, zipped up and in a MX only format, if you still can't get it to work with the above suggestion.
If you recall, there is a dynamically created textfield so its somewhat different compared to your last solution.
You'll see I embedded 2 fonts. I tried exporting one font then selecting the bold feature in the export section. That didn't work, so I created a new textfomat. I'm able to do underline type in HTML but the bold tags don't work. Let me know your thoughts.
To my knowledge, most pixels fonts cannot be bolded! You have to use a bold version when it exists (as FFF Galaxy, and FFF Galaxy Bold...), and then not use the < b > & < /b > tags, but changed the font face with the appropriate tags in the text file. That works fine for me if I embed the normal font outlines in the created textfield, and embed the bold outlines in a second off-stage textfield.
If you want, to use 2 or more different TextFormats, you would then not use html tags in the text file, but set part of the text to one or another of the different formats, as described on this page...
If you look at the fonts that I embedded I actually embedded a bold version of that pixel type face. I know its not being accessed correctly but I do see the file size increase do to it's embedment (sp? is that even a word
I'll post something if I'm successful... or if I'm not successful.
Yep! You've set linkage and embedded the fonts in the Library.
If you embed any style of one single font, it will raise the .swf's size by up to 30KBs, depending on the range of characters, and when setting a new font in the Library, you're embedding the whole character set.
