    hosting

This is pretty much probably the most basic of basic, should-already-know questions. Well, here i go:

Let's say a client needs a website, including hosting. Do you just set him up with something like bravehost.com, or is there some special-fancy way of doing things?

    Thanks again.

EDIT: Can someone give me an answer, even if it's really simple?

IMPORTANT!! If this thread turns into people offering hosting solutions, I'm closing it in a heartbeat.

I am only leaving this here because I think the question deserves an answer... the question being, (in my own words) "Should I offer a basic, wholesale, virtual hosting account or should I offer a more custom hosting solution?"

Please keep answers in that frame of mind. We have a hosting thread "Sticky" at the top of the forum for hosting solutions and such. (I know, I know, but this isn't a hosting forum... leave that to the hosting professionals).

Now, my answer to you, small_lard, is that it depends on what your client needs. Evaluate the requirements of the client's site and see if they match the plan.

Most small companies can get away with basic hosting packages on a Virtual hosting server with the minimum offerings, and even some large companies.

Maintaining a dedicated server is quite expensive, and should only be done when the situation warrants it, i.e. if it is important to have unlimited bandwidth, unlimited space, etc.

Shop around and find a reputable company that can offer you the 1)product, 2)price, 3)performance that suits your need.
