Depending on how you want to animate it?
Lets say you just want it to fly accross the screen:
    - type your text
    - now the frame in which the text sits .. right click it
    - choose Create Motion Tween
    - the frame will turn blue
    - now right click frame 15 and say create key frame
    - on frame 15 drag your text to the other side of the screen

Now press Ctrl + Enter and see what happens.

    Modify > Document (or Ctrl + J)
In here you can change your stage size, colour.. and Frames per second
what the hell's a motion tween?

When you create text in Flash it automaticly groups it (makes it like a symbol but it wont be in your library) a grouped item can be motion tweened just as a symbol. If your text is white then change the background color of your document to see your text better. If you want to animate each letter of your text then you will need to break it apart first, select your text group and go to modify/ break apart.
    I came, I saw, I cartooned!
