I have a conference room in my building which is great for that, but before I lived here I would always go to meet them. Most clients prefer that anyway.

If you really need a meeting place, in any big city you can find conference rooms that you can rent for a day, or an afternoon. Also, at one point I had an arrangement with several other local professionals to share a meeting place. We had a small office, with a conference table, and the basics, and shared the rent. Works well if you know the others and trust them.

I found that if a client want to meet outside of the office it is a nice idea to meet in a restaurant and have a lunch meeting. Works well for me

At first I would insist on meeting them, but it got to wear they want to see that I was a real professional, so I ended up getting an office the size of a bathroom, and then grew on.

I would also meet at restraunts, and coffee houses, because I had internet access there.

T-Mobile hot spots rock! It is only like $6 for an all day connection. This is good if you meet every once in a while. I think it is $30/month for unlimited usage. Most Starbuck's have them as well as restuarants, hotels, and bars.
