    What image format you use in the flash? I use PNG, which preserve the quality and transparency very well.

    On first frame of movie.

    _quality="BEST";

    By default Flash lowers the quality of movies containg more than one frame.

    If you got problems with jpg "banding" on smooth gradients, put image inside a movieclip and set its alpha to 99.
