    do you have seen this?

    http://www.ebaumsworld.com/sonic.html

you can do it with 3dfa also. but it need a lot of programmer skills.

this is a tutorial for flash mx. with some experience you can use it in 3dfa.

    there are two ways:

    - use a very big picture you scroll (this is NOT fast, but there are some tricks if you cut the picture into parts)
    - use tiles and build a level with it (this is very fast)

both you can do perfectly with 3dfa and with the use of actionscript.
but I don't have much time to help you with that.

you should try to cut the whole level picture into x parts. each part must have the size (x,y) of the movie. then use tile technic. that meens that only 2 or 3 parts of the level will be drawn on screen.

    hope that helps a bit.

Lopez1_de is right , those two options are the best if your flash isnt too heavy... otherwhys it will get a bit lagy everytime the level will return to its start pose , if you have a big heavy movie you will better do it like this :

make the main shape of the level (something that looks like a rectangle) with the level's basic colour , than make other elements of objects and landscap parts which you wish to be placed on the road (plants ,mountains ,dirt colours etc) ,than you can use a simple script to restor each and everyone of the objects back to its start pose when its off the screen , that's maybe a bit more work but it will make your flash movie a lot easier to load and play

for me info check the ZIP attached
    ok....what ?

oh I see you want to make a side scroller. this is much more easy to do. and you can easy add some parallax effect.

I thought he want to make a top view game.

the jeep should be an own movie which is animated. then you can control/move this movie with the keyboard using actionscript.

without learning programming and the use of actionscript you are lost. I have programmed a lot, and I must also think about it a lot. All the things you need to do depends on what you want to do. I can't really help you with that.

the only hint i can give you is that you can use
    object.acceleration.x
    object.velocity.x

    good luck and fun
try to do small things first and then grow it up.

im sorry ... im mainly an animator not a scripter.. i know some basic stuff but i must see the job infront of me to get a clue what should i do first...

try looking for a programer or learn some stuff yourself.. its not too hard i think
    ok....what ?

Have you tried looking at the 'road safety' sample that comes with 3DFA version 4.5? You'll find it in the 'samples' menu, and it sounds like it's close to what your after in principle.

The best way to learn is probably to start tinkering with this until you understand how it works, then start to build your own stuff into it.

First of all, try changing some of the objects such as the car to a jeep. Then make your own backgrounds. Later on, when you're getting the hang of things, you could then do things like add a tile for a jump, and maybe make the jeep grow as it goes over it, to make it look like it's coming closer to the viewer.

As the others have said, it's probably best to start small, and work up It's much easier to learn that way !

    Best of luck.

I think it's better to not move the car. Better is to raise the speed of scrolling the background if you press the direction keys.
